ONLINE ANOREXIA COUNSELLING FOR ADULTS & TEENS

Anorexia can feel exhausting, isolating, and frightening, even when part of you still feels unable to let go of it. I’m Becky Stone, a BACP-registered counsellor (MBACP 66946) and NCFED-trained eating disorder practitioner, offering compassionate online anorexia counselling for adults and teens across the UK, with in-person sessions in Canterbury. I support people struggling with restriction, food anxiety, body image, and control, in a safe, non-judgemental space.

Understanding and Support

WHAT MAKES MY APPROACH DIFFERENT

I offer anorexia recovery that’s:

Trauma-informed

Neurodivergent-affirming

Free from food policing or diet culture

You won’t get a meal plan or rules. You will get help with:

Managing rigid food beliefs

Calming the inner critic

Navigating emotional and sensory triggers

Feeling safe enough to eat again

My approach is rooted in empathy, not correction. Together, we work on dismantling rigid food beliefs, quietening the inner critic, and managing the emotional and sensory triggers that keep the eating disorder in place.

Understanding Your Journey

I GET IT, BECAUSE I'VE BEEN THERE

I’m not just a therapist who’s read about anorexia. I’ve lived it.

There was a night I stood in my kitchen, lightheaded and exhausted, when one thought hit me harder than anything else: if I collapsed right now, my children would be alone in this flat. That moment changed everything. It wasn’t about food anymore. It was about the fact that I was disappearing, and the people who loved me most would be the ones left picking up the pieces.

I know how terrifying the first step into recovery can feel, especially when you’re living with anorexia. The fear that someone’s going to make you gain weight too fast, or take control away from you? I understand that deeply, because I’ve lived it.

Recovery isn’t about forcing change or piling on pressure. It’s about building trust, first with me, then slowly with your body, your mind, and the idea of a future that isn’t ruled by food, fear, or shame.

DIAGNOSED OR UNDIAGNOSED, YOU STILL DESERVE HELP

So many clients come to me unsure if they “count.” They haven’t been officially diagnosed. Or their GP told them they’re “fine.” Or they feel like they’ve outgrown the worst of it but still can’t eat in peace.

Here’s what I believe: if food feels hard, eating feels unsafe, and your brain is constantly preoccupied, you deserve support.

What Recovery Looks Like With Me

We won’t follow a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, we’ll go at your pace, with choice, autonomy, and compassion every step of the way. Some days might look like:

➔ Talking through body image, control, and anxiety

➔ Using Walk and Talk therapy to release emotion while moving

➔ Exploring fears around food in a non-judgmental space

➔ Understanding how trauma and neurodivergence can impact eating

➔ Building trust, not just with me, but with yourself

Understanding Your Journey

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Working with me looks like this:

Weekly or biweekly 1:1 sessions, online

A blend of therapeutic tools and real-life recovery guidance

Sessions tailored to your needs, not just a label

Your first step isn’t about food. It’s about connection. That’s why I offer a free 20-minute informal chat, just to talk. You don’t have to commit, and you don’t have to explain everything. You just need to show up, and I’ll meet you there, exactly as you are.

Becky Stone

I’m Becky Stone, the founder of Counsellor Who Cares, based in Canterbury and working with clients online across the UK.

I didn’t come into this work through a textbook. I came into it through my own experience, first with restriction and anorexia, and later with bingeing as a teenager, all of it tangled up with undiagnosed ADHD and dyslexia that I didn’t understand at the time. I know what it’s like to be told to “just eat,” to feel too much and not enough all at once, and to be terrified of losing control, whichever direction that fear points in.

That’s why I don’t do meal plans, rules, or diet culture dressed up as recovery. I’m a BACP-registered counsellor (MBACP 66946), NCFED-trained, and I’ve been doing this work for over 15 years, alongside supervising other counsellors and working in schools with teenagers. But what actually shapes a session with me is the same thing that shaped my own recovery: honesty, patience, and being met exactly where you are, not where someone else thinks you should be.

Outside the therapy room, I’m a mum, I’m dyslexic myself, and I understand first-hand how exhausting it is when your brain works differently from the world around you. That understanding is at the heart of everything I do, whether we’re talking through fear of food or you’re just trying to be heard properly for the first time.

If you’re wondering whether you’d be a good fit for therapy with me, the honest answer is: if you’re tired of pretending you’re fine, you already are.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS ALONE

Recovery isn’t a straight line, and you don’t need to have everything figured out. Whether you’re newly exploring the idea of anorexia recovery, navigating a relapse, or carrying the weight of an undiagnosed struggle, you are welcome here. Support at Counsellor Who Cares is rooted in compassion, not pressure. You’ll be met where you are, with no judgment, just space to breathe, reflect, and grow.

Common Questions About Our Services

Do I need an official diagnosis to start?

No. If food feels hard and eating feels unsafe, you’re welcome here, diagnosed or not.

Do you work with teenagers as well as adults?

Yes, I work with both, online across the UK

What happens in the free 20-minute chat?
It’s a relaxed, no-obligation conversation to answer your questions and see if we’re the right fit- nothing more.

Are you BACP registered?
Do you offer in-person sessions, or is it all online?
